Computer Room Design

My friend’s daughter is into computer drawings, building/room designs, computer graphic stuff. Is there a software out there that I can get (it’s a christmas present)…something with a reasonable price will be nice. I’ll appreciate all suggestions.

Oh yeah, she has all the Sims out there and not satisfied with them since they don’t let her design as much as she wants to

Basically, I would like to paint my interiors and am confused how to choose colors that will look good with my furniture, drapes, room design, etc. there are free software tools with standard room designs, but is there one which will let me play around with wall colors on photos of my own rooms?

I am planning to finish off my basement with a entertainment space, laundry room, and bathroom and would like some software to design the walls, spaces, and layout.
