How can I hook up a second computer to my modem?

I have a computer in my living room, the modem that is hooked up to is designed to hook up up to 4 computers.
I am getting a new computer, installed in my bedroom which is upstairs, I don’t want to run a cable all the way to my bedroom.
Is there an easier way to share internet without running a cable from downstairs all the way to my room?
Wireless LAN connected to sat-uplink is very slow. Suggestions to speed it up?

I have a unique situation and I think I can get the LAN connection speed increased. I just need some help. Here is the situation. Approx 25 computers connected to LAN using wireless b&g Linksys “home” Router. This feeds into a Sat-uplink that at the moment I have no control over. My questions are: Is the wireless router that I’m using designed to handle 25 people at one time? I have the max connections at set at 30. People can connect but it’s very slow(30k/sec). The signal strength is good but signal quality is low. There is packet loss. Not sure if that is between the router and computer or on the satellight side. Other than the max connections all settings on the router are default…Are there a settings that I can change to increase preformance? Is there some free software that I could run to manage this network better(set daily quota’s,etc.)? Any other help would be great!
